Ben's political sabatical:

Currently I am on a political "sabatical" (in order to deal with a number of issues in my personal life that require my full attention).
I generally unhook my internet connection for one or two months at a time and then hook up again for a few days. I will,
most likely, be repeating this pattern of activity/inactivity for about a year or so.

Near term goals:

  • email letter to Eric asking for link to my reply
  • email 8th floor re: previous wiki (can we get pages for downloading?)
  • Ben replies needed:
    ** Ginger Group, "The First Step" by Garnet
    ** Paul comments on D of P on front page of this wiki



  • Place my graphics on wiki (so that readers who browse "Photo Gallery" will find)

Appendix: What is Covey's activity chart?

Stephen Covey (ie: the "Seven Habits of Highly Successful People" author) developed a way to chart goals and activity along two dimensions: importance and urgency.

The problem for many people (and organizations) is that they tend to get trapped in the first quadrant (ie: activity that is both urgent and important).

But real success comes from a focus on the second quadrant (ie: activity that is important but not urgent).

Successful management of goals and activity involves learning methods of spending more time and energy on the 2nd quadrant. The second quadrant is the quadrant of investment. Time spent there will be far more productive than time spent in the first quadrant in the same way that it is cheaper and easier to prevent a fire than to put out a fire that has broken out.
